Each Link will take you to a different section of the website which contains landscapes, seascapes and other scenic images of the particular area. Some of the pictures may not be in the geographically correct section, but for the purpose of this website it is close enough. I could have split the site by County but there would have been so many links it would have become confusing.
The areas listed and their contents are as follows:- |
| |
Best Of – Is as the title implies, what I think to be my best photographs taken from the sections below. |
| |
Angus – This section contains photographs of autumn trees and the Reid Park in Forfar. There are images of the Forfar Loch and Loch Brandy in Glen Clova. The County of Angus forms part of the east coast and would not be complete without some photographs of its beaches and the sea. There are photos of Arbroath Harbour, stormy seascapes and a sun rise at Lunan bay. Montrose is represented by some pictures of the sun rising on the geese at the Montrose Basin. |
| |
Aberdeenshire – Covers a large area with varied scenery from wooded glens, heather covered hillsides to golden beaches. There are photographs of Aberdeen, Braemar and Stonehaven. The area has several Castles in its boundaries and these are represented by sunrise images of Dunnottar Castle and Corgarff Castle sitting in amongst heather clad hills. Dunnottar Castle sits on a large rocky mound overlooking the North Sea and there are pictures of it at sun rise.
There are photographs of the sun rising at St Cyrus beach with its whitewashed fishing buildings. There are photographs of His Majesties Theatre taken from Union Street Gardens along with some pictures of Aberdeen beach. There are photographs of Boddam Harbour and Lighthouse along with some of the golden sands of Cruden Bay. |
| |
Argyle and Bute – is a very interesting area with several superb islands well worth a visit. There are images of the mountains in Glencoe including the Aonach Eagach, Ben More on the Isle of Mull. A large section of Argyle and Bute consists of coastline and there are photographs of a sailing ship in Inverary which is now a maritime museum, fishing boats in Port Ellen on Jura and Oban. There are several fine lighthouses in the area but of the most picturesque is Eillean Musdile in The Of Mull. The West Coast of Scotland is particularly good for sunsets and there are photographs of the sun setting on Morven taken from Bunree, North Ledaig and a surfer at Arisaig. There are of course Castles in Argyle and this section contains images of Kilchurn Castle and Castle Stalker. Oban is the location where many ferries to and from the islands berth. There are photographs of the Isle Of Mull, Arran, Jura, Islay and Kerrera. Oban of course has its sites and there are picture of Macaigs Folly. |
| |
Cyprus – Not in Scotland I know, but I was there on holiday and so have included some photographs of Paphos, the Kykos Monastery, Agios Georgios and Latsi. |
| |
East Lothian - This section does not contain many photographs. There are some pictures of North Berwick Law and Harbour, the beach at North Berwick Bay and of course the Bass Rock. |
| |
Edinburgh – The Capital of Scotland. There are photographs of Edinburgh Castle and the city skyline, Princess Street, its gardens and the Ross fountain. The Scott monument is a photographic must and of course some street photography. There is some photographs of unexpected wild life – a pig in a pram and a bull above a shop doorway. Edinburgh of course is close to the sea and there are seascapes of Drum Sands in the evening light. |
| |
Fife – has several fishing villages along its coast but I have only managed visits to a few. I have photographs of Anstruther Harbour with a sea mist blowing in and St Andrews on a nice sunny day. |
| |
Mono – The black and white section is like the Best of on steroids. There are many photographs here of the subjects to be found on the rest of the site but in monochrome, not colour. |
| |
Highland – This region of Scotland has everything that a landscape photographer / artist could ever want. There are landscape scenes of mountains in Assynt such as – Culbeag, Stac Pollaidh Cul Mor taken from Knockan Crag north of Ullapool. The sun rising on Quinag with the hard white frost still on the ground. I have photographs of the sun setting on Ullapool Harbour with fishing boats and yachts berthed there. Mallaig is not one of the most picturesque villages in Scotland but it is the gateway to several of Scotland’s Islands and is at the end of what is reputed to be one of the most scenic rail journeys in the world. There are photographs of Mallaig Harbour with yachts, ferries and fishing boats. The grandeur of Torridon is represented by landscapes of Beinn Alligin and Loch Torridon, Ruad Stac Mor and Beinn a Chearcaill, Ben Eighe, Liathach and Loch Clair. With Slioch and Loch Maree to show the delights of Kinlochewe. Moving south there is one of the most picturesque Castles in the shape of Eilean Donan Castle. The Commando memorial at Spean Bridge stands out against the backdrop of Aonach Mor. Then of course there are the islands – The Lighthouse at the Butt of Lewis, a Croft on Harris, Loch Seaforth, a rainbow over Lochmaddy. There are photographs of the Old Man of Hoy just before sunset and the ring of Brodgur with a low mist in Orkney. |
| |
Inverness – This section of the site would have been better labelled Aviemore as there is currently only one photograph of Inverness and that is the Beualy Firth. The other images being of Loch an Eillean and loch Morlich. |
| |
Other – This page has photographs that I realy wasn’t sure where to put them so I created this area for fine art photographs. There is a photograph of construction cranes on the skyline. One of what looks like Frankenstein’s lab being hit by a bolt of lightning. A Couple of flowers in vases, two of the red arrows and one of Japanese tourists at Loch Lomond all taking pictures with Ben Lomond in the background. |
| |
Perthshire – There are images of autumn leaves at the Pass Of Killiekrankie, winter snows and the sunrising in Glenshee. There are photographs of Ben Gulabin and the Cairnwell at sunrise. Two horse in a frost covered field and the Spittal of Glenshee.
Skye |
| |
Stirling – There are some beautiful areas in Stirlingshire to be photographed. The Trossachs, Loch Katrine, the summit of Ben A’an and Loch Lomond. |
| |
Skye – The misty Isle. There are so many photo opportunities on Skye but the weather can be a problem. On this site you will find photographs of – a seascape of Ardmore Bay with bluebells in the foreground, The Old Man Of Storr, The Quiraing (including the Prison and The Needle), Staffin and the Coral Beaches at Claigan near Dunvegan. There are also images of one of Macleods Tables, an old boat and Bla Bheinn taken from Torrin, Loch Coruisk and the Black Cuillin.
